Doctors Without Borders App Design

Mobile app design to increase transparency and users’ willingness to donate

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is a non-profit organization that provides life-saving medical care worldwide.

Our team designed a mobile app for MSF geared toward donors to address the utmost concerns we uncovered in our research: trust, education, and passion for the cause.

Passion: A personalized experience increases users’ motivation to continue contributing
Education: Easily accessible global news increases users’ awareness, thereby increasing their trust
Trust: A prominent confirmation screen with information on how donated funds are allocated increases trust and transparency

Addressing these concerns through design ultimately encourages users’ donating behaviour, better equipping MSF to continue their life-saving work around the world.

Throughout the course of this project, our team analyzed the existing mobile donation experience, conceptualized a novel app, conducted qualitative research (interviews), created a design system, iteratively designed a donation flow, and conducted user testing between every stage.
